Why it happens (Nidana)
Sedentary lifestyle, excess sweet/heavy/dairy foods, daytime sleep, obesity, family history; the classics call it a disease of affluence and inactivity.
Metabolic Health
Prameha (the diabetes spectrum) is described in detail in the classics as a Kapha-dominant disorder of sedentary excess. Ayurveda supports blood-sugar management with bitter herbs — Methi, Jamun seed, Gudmar, Vijaysar, Haridra — an anti-Kapha diet and daily exercise, always alongside (never instead of) prescribed medication and monitoring.
Sedentary lifestyle, excess sweet/heavy/dairy foods, daytime sleep, obesity, family history; the classics call it a disease of affluence and inactivity.
Excess urination and thirst, fatigue after meals, slow wound healing, recurrent infections, tingling in feet, unexplained weight change, sweet cravings.
Methika (fenugreek), Jambu (jamun) seed powder, Meshashringi (Gudmar), Vijaysar, Haridra with Amalaki, Guduchi; classical Nishamalaki combination.
Classical medicines beyond kitchen herbs should be taken under a registered Ayurvedic practitioner, especially with existing medication, in pregnancy, or for children.
Soak 1 tsp fenugreek seeds overnight, take on waking; 30-45 minutes brisk walking daily, ideally after meals; jamun seed powder ½ tsp before lunch per practitioner advice; monitor sugars regularly and share herb use with your physician — do not stop medication.
